Dear followers of the very first hour,
Thank you for signing up to this blog and showing your interest in content that walks the line between actionable data-crunching insight and thoughtful human reflection on the (digital) realities we find ourselves in.
When I launched this blog, I promised $1 for every subscriber who signed up before December 25th.
As of 23:59 on December 24th, 19 of you have signed up.

That’s not quite 250 😉 so I’ve decided to multiply my pledge to $5 per subscriber and have just made a donation on your behalf to DataKind. DataKind do fantastic work leveraging the power of data science and AI for human wellbeing. If you’re not familiar with them, have a look at this DataKind project that used eviction and mortgage foreclosure data to prevent home insecurity and homelessness.

I’d love to hear from you!
I’d like to thank you for signing up to CrunchCrunchHuman. 19 is a nice inner circle to be starting off with and I’m grateful for your audience.
Please consider this a growing and experimental community space and feel free to comment on blog posts you like (or don’t!) and reach out to me if there’s something you’d like me to write about. I’m just one brain rambling on into the digital void so please, by all means, chime in!
I’m also starting to think about creating a CrunchCrunchHuman podcast. It’d be a podcast that would unravel some of the human stories behind the Python data science world: a human take on popular (or lesser known) Python packages and the ways we all try to navigate working for money with working on something meaningful.
If you’re interested in collaborating, I’d love to hear from you.
For now – happy holidays!
